_ I first got involved with horses in the Netherlands. After meeting two cute, but stubborn Shetland ponies I got totally hooked on horses. Eager to learn more I went to a riding school for lessons. Within months, I spent every free moment at the riding school to assist with all “horse chores” from grooming and tacking up schooling horses to riding retraining the newcomers.
After graduating high school I spent time in England working for international show jumper Paula Graham and in Germany at a breeding stable. Since having moved to BC, I reconnected with horses and became an EC certified Western instructor in 2010.
Having worked with different breeds in a variety of disciplines, I have been introduced to a wide range of training methods. Ester Gerlof Horsemanship isn’t about a specific method, but geared to whatever works for the horse.
